Anti-Ringing
Reduce ringing artifacts introduced by sharp upscaling filters. Ringing appears as bright halos or dark outlines around high-contrast edges and is most visible with filters like Lanczos and EWA Lanczos.
Parameter
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Default | 0.0 |
| Range | 0.0 -- 1.0 |
| Step | 0.1 |
Higher values suppress ringing more aggressively but may soften the image. A value of 0.0 disables anti-ringing entirely.
Recommended Settings
- 0.0 (default) is appropriate when using filters that do not produce significant ringing, such as Bilinear, Bicubic, or Hermite.
- 0.3 -- 0.5 is a good range for Lanczos or EWA Lanczos, reducing visible halos without noticeably softening the image.
- 0.8 -- 1.0 may be needed for EWA Lanczos4Sharpest or other very sharp filters, though the filter itself already includes some built-in anti-ringing.
- This setting applies globally to both the main upscaler and the plane upscaler.
