First Run

Launch the application, connect a video source, and verify output.

Launching

Windows

Run VoidVideo.exe from the installation directory.

Linux

bash
chmod +x VoidVideo
./VoidVideo

On startup, the application will display "No Signal" until an active video source is connected to the DeckLink card. This is normal.

Connecting a Source

Connect an HDMI source to the DeckLink card. Format detection is automatic — when a valid signal is detected, the status message disappears and video appears on screen. If the source changes format (e.g., 1080p to 4K, or SDR to HDR), capture restarts seamlessly.

Verifying Output

Once video is flowing, press D to toggle the performance OSD. It shows:

  • Current resolution and frame rate
  • Frame queue status (produced / mapped / dropped)
  • Shader pipeline performance
  • HDR histogram and metering values (when processing HDR content)

If the OSD shows frames being produced and the queue is healthy, the pipeline is working correctly.

Linking Your Device

To activate your installation, you need to link it to your account.

  1. On the Void Video screen, navigate to System > Link Device. A code will be displayed.
  2. On your phone or another computer, go to voidvideo.net/link.
  3. Log in if prompted, then enter the code shown on screen.
  4. Once linked, your device will receive a license and you're good to go.

If you don't have an account yet, sign up first.

Display Mode Switching

If auto refresh rate is enabled (in Display Settings), the application will switch the display mode to match the source frame rate when a DeckLink format change is detected. You can configure a whitelist of allowed display modes to prevent unwanted switches.
